Ash Smith is a technical security expert and a leader in the cyber security domain. Prior to joining Resolve Ash implemented and managed a cyber-security program providing security design and risk mitigation strategies across multiple key Defence capability projects.

Ash’s extensive experience spans across private industry as well as Government. These include senior cyber security management roles focussed on client engagement, business risk analysis, threat analysis, assessment and assurance, security strategy and architecture and incident response. Ash has held senior management positions and security advisory roles in Defence, Telstra, Datacom Technical Security Services, Treasury and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Throughout his career, Ash has developed new and innovative methods to assist organisations in assessing and managing business risk to prevent poor security outcomes. His latest methodology ‘Plan, Assess, Acquire and Manage’ (PAAM) has been adopted by Defence and Treasury to assess the risk associated with moving applications to the cloud. This comprehensive methodology ensures that security, technical and legal domains are working together harmoniously to achieve business outcomes.

Ash holds a bachelor’s degree in ICT majoring in computer science and a Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security. Ash currently holds a Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance.
